Wati Alternatives for UK Businesses: Five Options, Prices and Gaps
The short answer
The best Wati alternative depends on what you use Wati for. For a small business that mainly answers WhatsApp enquiries, Conciergr is the closest fit, because it charges one flat monthly price (pricing), answers from your own Google Doc and Sheet, and your staff keep the WhatsApp Business app. respond.io is the better choice for a support team working across several channels, SleekFlow for omnichannel sales teams, and AiSensy if price is the only criterion. A business with a handful of chats a day may need nothing more than the free WhatsApp Business app.
We make Conciergr, which is on this list. How we picked is explained further down, and every price below was read from each provider's own pricing page on 5 October 2026.
Quick picks
| Alternative | Best for | Entry price (checked 5 Oct 2026) | Where it beats Wati | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conciergr | Class businesses answering WhatsApp enquiries | Flat monthly price (see pricing); 30-day trial with card | No seat, contact or reply meter; answers from your own Google Doc and Sheet | One WhatsApp number per account; no broadcast campaigns or shared inbox |
| respond.io | Support teams on several channels | US$79/month billed yearly (US$99 monthly) | Omnichannel inbox, mature workflows | AI Agents start on Growth at US$159/month billed yearly; priced by monthly active contacts |
| SleekFlow | Omnichannel sales teams | US$109/month billed yearly (US$139 monthly) | 10 user accounts included on Pro | Priced by monthly active contacts; US$15/month per WhatsApp number |
| AiSensy | The lowest subscription price | Free Forever plan; paid from ₹1,500/month | Free plan for service replies; five agent logins on Basic | Prices are in Indian rupees; the AI Chat Agent costs extra; no broadcasting on the free plan |
| WhatsApp Business app | Very small teams with low volume | Free | No subscription at all | Built-in automation is basic (greeting and away messages, quick replies); no answers from your own documents |
Wati's own entry point, for comparison, is Growth at £49 a month billed yearly or £59 month to month, for three users with no option to add a fourth (Wati pricing page, UK view, 5 October 2026).
Why UK businesses look for Wati alternatives
Wati is a capable WhatsApp Business Platform built for teams that need shared inboxes, automation workflows and broadcast messaging. Three things push UK small businesses to look elsewhere: a hard three-user cap on the Growth plan that forces an early upgrade, automation triggers that run out each month on every plan, and a feature set aimed at marketing campaigns rather than answering enquiries.
For a one-to-three person business handling WhatsApp enquiries, that combination can make Wati more expensive and more complicated than the problem warrants.
What Wati costs (as of October 2026)
| Growth | Pro | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price, billed yearly | £49/mo | £99/mo | £229/mo |
| Monthly price, billed monthly | £59/mo | £129/mo | £289/mo |
| Users included | 3 (no additional users) | 5 | 5 |
| Extra users | Not available | £32/user/month | £74/user/month |
| Automation triggers/month | 1,000 | 2,000 | 5,000 |
| AI Co-pilot credits/month | 250 | 500 | 1,500 |
| Free trial | 7 days | 7 days | 7 days |
(Wati pricing page, UK view, read 5 October 2026. Wati also sells a pay-as-you-go plan for bulk campaigns only, priced in rupees.)
Growth has a hard three-user cap with no option to add users. If a fourth person needs access, you move from £49 to £99 a month on the yearly plan, or from £59 to £129 month to month. Extra automation triggers and AI Co-pilot credits are sold as monthly add-ons, and the Shopify integration needs a US$4.99 a month add-on (Wati pricing page, 5 October 2026).
Message fees on top
Beyond the subscription, every WhatsApp Business Platform provider passes on Meta's per-message charges, which depend on the recipient's country and the template category. Wati's pricing page does not publish its per-message rates; a third-party analysis (Chatarmin, July 2026) estimated them at about 20% above Meta's own rates. Check the rate card in your account before comparing, because at higher volumes the difference adds up. See WhatsApp chatbot cost for worked examples of how platform fees and Meta fees stack.
Where Wati creates friction for UK small businesses
User cap. The Growth plan's hard three-user cap means that adding one part-time staff member, or a manager who needs visibility, forces the jump to Pro. For a micro-business, that fourth login costs £50 a month on the yearly plan.
Trigger caps. Automated workflow triggers are capped at 1,000 a month on Growth and 2,000 on Pro. Wati's own FAQ says that beyond your plan's triggers "you will have to respond to your customers manually" unless you buy more. For a business using workflows for auto-replies, welcome messages and follow-ups, the cap limits the automation that justifies the platform in the first place.
Built for campaigns. Wati's plans are organised around broadcasts, click-to-WhatsApp ads, catalogues and Shopify flows. A tuition centre or swim school that mostly needs accurate answers about timetables, prices and trial classes pays for a marketing stack it may never use.
Coexistence. Wati now advertises syncing the WhatsApp Business app with Wati, so staff can keep chatting from their phones. If that matters to you, confirm during the trial that it works on your plan and number, because coexistence rules come from Meta and apply to every provider.
What to look for in a Wati alternative
For a UK small business, the priorities that Wati's model makes harder than necessary:
- Flat, predictable pricing that does not climb with users, contacts or triggers. Several alternatives meter monthly active contacts instead, which moves the uncertainty rather than removing it.
- AI that works from your own documents (price lists, timetables, FAQs). Linking a Google Sheet or Doc so answers update when you edit it removes a manual step from every timetable or price change.
- Voice notes understood, since many customers send them instead of typing.
- Coexistence with the WhatsApp Business app, so staff can still reply directly alongside the assistant.
- A trial long enough to see real enquiries. Seven days is a single turn of a weekly timetable, so one quiet week tells you little.
How we picked
We compared tools that a UK small business could switch to from Wati for WhatsApp customer messaging, on entry price, what the price includes, how the bill grows, and who each tool is built for. Prices come from each provider's public pricing page, read from a UK location on 5 October 2026; feature notes come from the same pages. We make Conciergr, and its row is written to the same template, including where it falls short.
Conciergr: best for class businesses answering enquiries
Conciergr is an AI receptionist for WhatsApp built for class-based businesses such as tuition centres, swim schools and dance studios. It answers from a Google Doc and Sheet that stay in your own Drive, captures booking requests and emails them to you, and works on the number you already use while staff keep the WhatsApp Business app.
Front Desk and the Everything plan are each one flat monthly price, with no per-seat, per-contact or per-reply meter; paying yearly gives two months free. Current prices are on the pricing page. There is a 30-day trial, which starts with a card at signup. Meta's message fees are separate and paid through your own Meta account.
Where it falls short: one WhatsApp number per account, no broadcast campaigns, no shared team inbox (staff work in the WhatsApp Business app instead), and it does not answer phone calls. A team that needs campaign tooling should look at Wati or SleekFlow instead.
respond.io: best for multichannel support teams
respond.io is an omnichannel inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, email and more. Starter costs US$79 a month billed yearly (US$99 month to month), Growth US$159 billed yearly (US$199 monthly), and Advanced US$279 billed yearly (US$349 monthly), with a 7-day trial and no card needed. Pricing scales with the monthly active contacts you talk to, and AI Agents, broadcasts and workflow automation start on Growth (respond.io pricing page, 5 October 2026).
Who should not pick it: a small team that wants AI answers on the cheapest plan, since Starter has AI Assist but no AI Agents. Our respond.io alternatives guide covers it in detail.
SleekFlow: best for omnichannel sales teams
SleekFlow Pro costs US$109 a month billed yearly or US$139 month to month, includes 10 user accounts and 500 monthly active contacts to start, and charges US$15 a month for each WhatsApp number. The 7-day Pro trial needs no card (SleekFlow pricing page, UK view, 3 October 2026). It beats Wati on included users; it is priced for teams that run sales across several channels. More in our SleekFlow alternative guide.
AiSensy: best when price is the only criterion
AiSensy has a Free Forever plan that covers service replies but not broadcasting, and paid plans from ₹1,500 a month (Basic, with one owner and five agent logins), ₹3,200 (Pro) and ₹9,100 (Premium). Its AI Chat Agent is an extra ₹1,350 a month for 1,000 AI messages (AiSensy pricing page, 5 October 2026). Prices and message rates are set for India, so a UK business should confirm the rates for UK numbers before committing.
Deciding in one line
- If you mostly answer enquiries about classes, prices and trials, pick Conciergr.
- If you run support across WhatsApp, Instagram and email with a team, pick respond.io.
- If you run sales campaigns across channels with up to 10 people, pick SleekFlow.
- If the subscription price is all that matters, start with AiSensy's free plan.
- If you get a few chats a day, stay on the free WhatsApp Business app.
- If you need broadcasts, catalogues and Shopify flows, Wati itself may still be the right tool.
Who Wati is for
Wati is a reasonable choice if:
- You have a team of five or more and need a shared inbox with assignment rules.
- You send high-volume broadcast campaigns and need catalogue integration.
- You need Shopify or e-commerce workflow triggers.
- You are comfortable managing trigger allowances and per-message costs.
Who Wati is not for
Wati is likely the wrong fit if:
- You are a team of four and do not want to pay for Pro to add one login.
- You want AI that answers from your own documents without managing credits or trigger allowances.
- You mostly answer enquiries rather than run campaigns.
- You want a trial longer than seven days before committing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a free Wati alternative?
Yes, two. The WhatsApp Business app is free, but its built-in automation is basic (greeting and away messages, quick replies) and it cannot answer from your own documents. AiSensy has a Free Forever plan for service replies, with no broadcasting and its AI Chat Agent sold separately. Wati itself has a 7-day free trial but no free plan.
How much does Wati cost per month?
Wati Growth costs £49 a month billed yearly or £59 month to month for three users, Pro £99 or £129 for five users, and Business £229 or £289 (Wati pricing page, UK view, 5 October 2026). Meta's message fees, extra users on Pro and Business, and add-ons such as extra automation triggers come on top.
Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business app with Wati?
Wati now advertises syncing the WhatsApp Business app with its platform, so staff can keep chatting from their phones. Meta sets the rules for this coexistence mode, so check during the trial that it works for your number. Conciergr connects through Meta's coexistence flow, and its replies appear in the app like normal sent messages.
Does Wati comply with UK GDPR?
Wati can be used by UK businesses, but it is headquartered outside the UK, so customer data may be transferred abroad and UK GDPR expects safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for that. The same question applies to most providers on this list, Conciergr included (operated from Singapore, with AI processing by OpenAI under API terms that do not permit training on the data). Ask each provider how it covers international transfers.
What is the cheapest Wati alternative with AI replies?
On subscription price alone, AiSensy's paid plans plus its AI Chat Agent cost less than any other option here, priced in rupees. For a UK class business that wants AI answers from its own documents at a flat price, Conciergr's Front Desk has one monthly price with no contact or reply meter, listed on conciergr.com/pricing.
Conciergr answers your enquiries in seconds, around the clock, from documents you own — and your team keeps using WhatsApp exactly as before.
